Begun in 1999 by local quilters, the purpose of the guild is to foster the art of quilting, to encourage a high standard of design and technique in all of its various forms, and to stimulate an interest in these goals within the community. The Guild affiliated with NC Cooperative Extension in 2002 as partners in order to reach more people in Lee, Harnett, Chatham and Moore Counties. Members of the Guild are also members of Lee County Extension and Community Association.
We meet on the first Saturday of the month for a Sew Day and break for a guild meeting at noon and have another Sew Day on the third Saturday. (Dates for meeting can be changed for holidays and conflicts at the Extension. Check the Program Page for changes.) The McSwain Extension Center at 2420 Tramway Road, Sanford, NC is our gathering place. We present a quilt show every other odd numbered year.

As a non-profit organization community service is a large part of our undertakings. We are constantly providing worthy organizations with quilts and pillowcases for use and to raise funds in raffles. Wounded soldiers are the recipients of Quilts of Valor. The guild assists with 4H Summer Quilt Camps that meet at the McSwain Center. We also teach the 4H Crazy Quilters quilt making every month on the third Saturday of the month. Making monetary contributions helps many worthy causes such as Hurricane Relief, Camp Royall Scholarship Fund in 2017. Many more charities in previous years.
In 2017 our pillowcases and community service quilts have been going to the Lee County Dept. of Children's Services. We put together 3 Quilts of Valor in one day for veteran soldiers.
